Purple Heart Bowl
A deep medium sized bowl made from Purple Heart. This wood when first cut tends to be a grey, brown colour but turns to a deeper shade of purple over a few weeks with exposure to air or with heat. Once waxed and sealed the colour mostly stays the same but long-term exposure to UV can turn it brown again. Its an interesting wood to turn as it can exude sap which dulls the cutting tools. The application of friction polish warms the wood and brings out the lovely purple shine.
Dimensions 15cm diameter x 8 cm tall. Centre depth 5cm with a 1cm thick rim, heavy base.
